After this 2 year period you can extend your visa or change it for job-seeker visa with one year duration; or work visa with one year duration which can be converted into permanent residence for you and your whole family after one year.

These requirements are to be fulfilled for applying for Finnish student visa:

  • valid passport

  • passport photo (instructions can be found on the website of the Migration Service)

  • certificate stating that you are accepted at a Finnish educational institution

  • confirmation of funds of subsistence in the required amount in bank* €560 /month (€6720 /year) if you are moving with family +€260 per each family member

  • insurance policy or a copy of the European Health Insurance Card and for each family member

  • certificates of previous education (if the training does not involve obtaining a diploma and you are not an exchange student)

If you fulfil all requirements and all your papers are valid and present you will be granted visa in a local consul office in your country and... you can book tickets!
